Road Trip: San Francisco

I’ll be away for a week. I’m heading to my old ‘hood, the San Francisco Bay Area, for a solo exhibition at the Gallery at the Geary. My last show there was in 2005, so I am excited to be presenting a whole new body of work.

What I have in hand for reading pleasure, all allowable on board by the TSA:

Unnatural Wonders, by Arthur Danto
Homo Aestheticus, by Ellen Dissanayake (recommended by my good friends at Mad Silence)
The Anti-Aesthetic, edited by Hal Foster
(All of which I am hoping can aerate and disrupt my thinking during this week away from the studio.)

  1. Congratulations! I don’t have a great amount of experience at solo shows, but seeing all that work in one place at one time can be stimulating. Suddenly you see what you do…and what you might do. I hope all goes well.
